🔥🌶️ WELCOME TO THE AI HOT TAKE HALL OF FAME 🔥🌶️

Whether it's art or socializing, I believe AI should come with a warning and a guide to use it properly as an assistant, not a friend or a replacement.

Most people don’t actually fear AI replacing humans — they fear losing the illusion of being special.

AI is going to shape our future, but only if we shape who builds it. Real innovation happens when diverse voices lead the code, not just follow it.

I like to think of AI like a coworker that I’m collaborating with on a project. When I’m struggling, I can troubleshoot and debug my issues with AI, which I appreciate.

I think it's really important for us to recognize that AI doesn't necessarily promote human connection and it's allowing us to feel comfortable and being alone a lot more.

I’m part of a generation that won’t let AI be built from a single point of view. We deserve a future where women and nonbinary creators lead the innovation that protects and inspires our world.

AI is powerful, but diversity makes it unstoppable. It’s time for women and nonbinary technologists to build the systems that will shape how the world thinks, learns, and connects.

I hope for a future where there can be a balance of AI and humans in the workplace, and neither completely replaces the other.

I think AI use should be more discouraged than it currently is!

I learned that AI requires a lot of water usage to cool off its systems. I find this concerning because what is being done to minimize this impact? How can we continue using AI without causing such negative implications?

Everyone should have a say in the future of AI because innovation is more impactful when it is useful for more people! We go farther together.

I worry about the rights to my own likeness. Going forward, how will we increase cyber security and legal protections to keep AI from forging false images/videos/voice recordings of real people?

AI learns from us, so if we don’t teach it diversity, it’ll just keep repeating history. Diversity isn’t just about representation; it’s about accuracy.

There is a lot being done to advance AI technology and very little to investigate its grounds. We need AI ethics and regulations that can ensure everyone is able to understand, utilize and benefit from this new technology.

I believe that AI holds the power to change the world for the better, but that if radical intervention isn't at the core of development, it will only widen gaps that already exist in society

Every new ‘AI assistant’ or ‘smart feature’ makes us depend on tech for things we’re totally capable of. To me this is less about empowerment and more about creating dependence.

Why AI,
Why Now

Our latest research with UCLA shows that most students see AI as powerful and transformative, but also recognize its risks. Yet today, 71% of the AI workforce is male—meaning women and nonbinary people remain underrepresented in shaping this technology. If we don’t act now, a new era of innovation will be built without the representation it needs to truly work for everyone.

At Girls Who Code, we believe AI can be a force for good, but only if it reflects the voices and values of all people. By centering ethics and community in our programs, we’re preparing young women and nonbinary youth to become thoughtful, responsible creators of tomorrow’s tech.
